CLADEA BALAS Case Consortium (CBCC) was born as a response to the need to generate quality pedagogical and academic material that considers Latin America as its main focus and scenario as well as the different realities that converge in it, this context demands the production of relevant material for academic students that measures their closest reality and for their applicability to fit their needs. In this sense our main objective is to promote the use and the writing of pedagogical cases through the formation of a collection of high-quality cases, based on a demanding double blind review process, based on the most demanding international standards. Thanks to these quality control standards, our cases have access to be globally published and distributed through the most important channel of pedagogical cases on an international level: the page of Harvard Business Publishing (hbsp.harvard.edu).
Currently, the CBCC is directed by an Editorial Council composed of a representative from each business school member of the consortium, the Executive Director and a member of the executive committee of CLADEA and a representative of the executive committee of BALAS.
Additionally, the CBCC has an Editorial Director chosen by the Editorial Council who is in charge of the administration of the collection of cases and who is the interlocutor of the consortium with the public, supported by an Administrative Coordinator. The portfolio of reviewers is made up of academics with experience as writers and reviewers. Each case is reviewed by two reviewers who are linked to an institution different from that of the authors of the case. In order to ensure the quality of the cases and once approved by the reviewers, the texts are submitted to a form review by a professional corrector, and they are finally translated into English.
There are two options for submitting a pedagogic case to the evaluation process of the consortium. The first option is an institutional membership. To be a member of the CBCC, the institution must be a member of CLADEA and must demonstrate before the Editorial Council the fulfilment of the required guidelines.
The second option is the individual publication by any academic interested in the production of teaching cases. In that variant, the authors must send their cases to the annual conferences of CLADEA. The best cases of both conferences access the evaluation process of the CBCC. The specific access conditions are agreed by the person responsible for the tracking of cases of each conference with the Editorial Director of the consortium.
This 2021 the Case consortium, directed by Dr. Roberto Gutiérrez and the representative on the part of CLADEA, Dr. Armando Borda, have received 21 cases through the call for cases which will be evaluated and will have the option to pass a blind review filter which, according to the results could be published thanks to the alliance of the consortium with Harvard Business Publishing.
IMPORTANT
Only those who have a registry with Harvard Business Publishing, can access a complete reading of the Cases. CLADEA does not carry out this management.
