The Role

The Dean and Head of School for the Woxsen School of Business provides visionary leadership and strategic direction, ensuring the School aligns with and contributes significantly to the University’s overall goals. This position is crucial in shaping the future of the School and maintaining its reputation for excellence in business education.

Leadership and Strategy:

• Develop and implement a strategic plan for the School, aligned with Woxsen University’s strategic vision.
• Provide academic and strategic leadership, shaping the School’s future direction.
• Contribute to the Faculty Executive Board, fostering collaboration across Schools on programs, student experience, research, and external partnerships.

Academic Excellence:

• Champion the continuous development of an innovative curriculum that is research-driven and responsive to evolving business needs.
• Oversee and encourage faculty development, ensuring high-quality teaching and research.
• Contribute to setting and monitoring performance targets for the School, benchmarking against leading business schools.

Financial Sustainability:

• Be accountable for the School’s budget, managing resources effectively and strategically.
• Ensure efficient financial management in line with University policies.

Student Success:

• Enhance student recruitment from diverse backgrounds, both domestically and internationally.
• Elevate the student experience by fostering an environment that promotes learning, growth, and development.

External Engagement:

• Build and nurture strong relationships with external partners, including businesses, alumni, and other institutions.
• Spearhead internationalization efforts, expanding the School’s global reach and impact.

Research and Innovation:

• Provide academic leadership for the School’s research agenda, fostering a culture of research excellence.
• Oversee research activities and contribute to enhancing the School’s research impact.

School Management:

• Chair the School Management Board and other relevant committees, providing effective leadership and guidance.
• Be the accountable line manager for all academic and administrative staff within the School.
• Oversee the School’s operations, ensuring the effective management of all aspects, including academics, finance, personnel, and health & safety.

Key Qualifications:

• A Doctorate (PhD) in Business Administration, Management, or a closely related field.
• An outstanding record of scholarship with a sustained publication record in top-tier academic journals.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and innovation in business education.
• A strong track record of leading and managing a large academic unit, including financial and human resources.
• Experience in securing and maintaining accreditation from international business school accreditation bodies (e.g., EQUIS, AACSB).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• A passionate advocate for high-quality education, faculty development, and student success.
• A commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the School.
• A strategic thinker with a clear vision for the future of business education and the School’s growth.
